Legionellosis Confirmed Case and Outbreak Investigation and Management

Presented by Megan Canright, MPH, CIH

The presentation will provide a general review of confirmed Legionellosis case and outbreak investigation and management strategies in the context of the role of the industrial hygienist. Discussion may include include differences between proactive and reactive risk assessment approaches, sampling and data interpretation, risk management and controls, public health interactions and liaising with regulatory officials and water management teams, legal considerations, and special considerations for healthcare. Case studies will be presented to demonstrate practical application and lessons learned. 


Megan Canright has a wide array of experience in the fields of Industrial Hygiene and Environmental, Health & Safety. As the Corporate Director of Scientific Operations with Forensic Analytical, she provides company-wide technical and operational direction and facilitates the internal Quality Assurance/Quality Control program. Megan's primary areas of expertise include occupational and environmental exposure assessment, and the evaluation and control of waterborne pathogens in support of environmental infection control. Megan is a Certified Industrial Hygienist and is very active in the local San Diego and National chapters of the American Industrial Hygiene Association, serving as the 2015-2016 Chair of the AIHA Risk Assessment Committee and current Board Member of the California Industrial Hygiene Council. She was selected as the recipient of the 2019 AIHA Kusnetz award and a graduate of the 2011 AIHA Future Leaders Institute (FLI).

As always you will be able to mingle and network beforehand and afterwards.

Non-member guests with early registration (through 7/9) - $50 per person

Students/emeritus/retired by early registration deadline (through 7/9) - $35 per person

Registration on or after July 9th - $55 per person for all members, students, emeritus, retired registrants

Tickets for Past Presidents (our guests) are $0.00, if registered by the early registration deadline
