The meeting begins at 6:00 PM with local section announcements and business followed by a technical presentation by Allan W. Ader, Ph.D., DABT and Debbie Keys, CIH, CHMM. We'll provide an opportunity for open mic after the presentation.

Potent Compound Safety of Antibody-Drug Conjugates
Principles used in the systematic and scientific approach to pharmaceutical occupational health and safety will be discussed in relation to antibody drug conjugates (ADCs).  We will discuss hazard determinations of all parts of the ADC, along with containment and control of these compounds in pharmaceutical operations.

Dr. Allan Ader is co-founder and Managing Director of SafeBridge Consultants, Inc., the premier resource for high level risk assessment, safety, health and environmental support to the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry, located in Mountain View, CA.  Dr. Ader has extensive experience in:

  • Developing Occupational Exposure Limits and assessing compounds for toxicity and potency for compound categorization / banding and recommending handling practices and controls based on the toxicity/potency characteristics;
  • Assisting companies in testing of chemicals for their toxic effects and interpreting data from these tests,
  • Performing health-based risk assessments including evaluating toxicological and exposure information to determine potential health effects of chemicals,
  • Developing Permitted Daily Exposure values for product safety and cross-contamination protection; and
  • Responding to crises caused by occupational health illnesses from chemicals by assessing and evaluating risks and communicating them to employees and management.

Dr. Ader has over 30 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and chemical industry including working for Syntex, Inc. in Palo Alto, CA and Olin Corporation, New Haven, CT.  He received a Ph.D. in Industrial Health (Toxicology) from the University of Michigan and an M.S. in Industrial Hygiene from Temple University.  He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Toxicology.

Debbie Keys is a Manager of Industrial Hygiene at SafeBridge Consultants, Inc., the premier resource for high level risk assessment, safety, health and environmental support to the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry, located in Mountain View, CA.  Debbie has extensive experience in:

  • Performing qualitative and quantitative industrial hygiene assessments of potent compound handling processes,
  • Facilitating integration of occupational toxicology information into the drug development process
  • Improving containment design of potent compound handling facilities,
  • Development of safety programs and training, and
  • Implementation of management systems to improve safety compliance

Debbie has over 30 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and aerospace industries including working for Syntex, Inc. and Roche Bioscience in Palo Alto, CA; Gilead Sciences in Foster City and Lockheed Missiles and Space Company in Sunnyvale, CA.  She received a BS in Environmental Toxicology from UC Davis.  She is a CIH and CHMM.

We’ve designed the evening to have one cumulative hour of technical content (equivalent to 0.167 CM points for ABIH Diplomates).

We hope to "see" you there!  Feel free to enjoy your favorite meal or beverage during the meeting.
