Inclusive Leadership – Creating Environments Where Diversity Can Thrive

Racial equity, diversity, and inclusion are not just buzz words, they are real circumstances impacting people around the world. These disparities have created opportunities for EHS, Sustainability, and IH professionals to lead programs for equity. Our responsibility as leaders is to create environments where diversity can thrive. Inclusive leaders create environments where people of all backgrounds feel respected, can contribute their talent and perspectives, and are given fair access to meaningful opportunity. The purpose of this webinar is to empower health and safety leaders with the critical knowledge and skills they need to build more inclusive workplaces, manage diverse teams, and serve diverse clients and customers.

Session Objectives

  • To enhance one's ability to recognize, understand and appreciate difference
  • To consider the value of, and business imperative for, diversity and inclusion in the workplace
  • Develop and implement strategies to be more inclusive in their leadership approach

Penney Stanch, CIH, CSP, CPE spent the majority of her career at NASA’s Johnson Space Center, first as a biomedical engineer and later as an industrial hygienist. In her work with occupational health, she used her hazard assessment knowledge to support inclusion of disabled employees.  She was a founding member of the No Boundaries Employee Resource Group, promoting awareness of best practices for onboarding new employees, facility management, and effective communication.

Subena Colligan, M.S., CIH, CSP is USAF veteran, an Environmental, Health, and Safety Manager and Director with the Board for Global EHS Credentialing. She has dedicated her efforts to leadership and community outreach within the Industrial Hygiene field. She is an active member of the Women in IH Outreach Committee and the Minority Special Interest Group of the American Industrial Hygiene Association. In addition to delivering content in person, she is a blogger at the TheCurlyIH.com, a blog designed to relate Industrial Hygiene to daily activities.

We’ve designed the evening to have one cumulative hour of technical content (equivalent to 0.17 CM point for ABIH Diplomates).

We hope to "see" you there!  Feel free to enjoy your favorite meal or beverage during the meeting.
